Summer of Sonnets

Some of these poems follow the sonnet form, others use some artistic license. I hope you enjoy reading them.

In constellations of stars, moments weave, Whispers of love spiral through night’s embrace.

A staircase twisting, where souls believe;

Kissed by romance, time slows in its space.

Paint my heart with hues of rainbow’s glow,

Each stroke a memory burst into flight.

Thunderstorms roar whilst past sorrows bestow

Novels of grief, inking tales in the night.

Yet moonlight cradles dreams, lost to despair,

Loaning soft glow when shadows steal the sun;

Golden truth shines where hope begins to fare,

For in this dance of life, we are but one.

So write each heartbeat, on the cosmic expanse,

Together, let our spirits, weave their universal dance.

...

The promise of September hangs by desire,

A whisper, clinging to the fading light,

As hope hides behind a smile, bright as fire,

Each leaf adrift transforms in soft twilight.

Beneath the harvest moon I find my way,

Encased in gold and amber’s gentle grace,

Where shadows stretch and mingle with decay,

In nature's dance, we both begin to trace.

With every turning leaf a secret shared,

I shed the past like bark from sturdy trees;

This month of change reminds of what I dared,

To grow beyond where fear once knelt on knees.

For in this season’s breath lies sweet rebirth,

Hope blooms anew upon September's earth.

...

Living wildly on mountain hearts,

I wear the night like a cloak of shadow;

Pressed petals whisper secrets in their part,

A constellation of scars glowing yellow.

Where wild things grow, resilience takes root,

The earth begins to breathe deeply anew;

Each breath painted bold with bravery's fruit,

Cherry blossoms dance in vibrant hue.

Courage sways gently in the moonlit air,

Their fleeting beauty stitched with hope and pain;

Together we rise, unbound by despair,

In wild embrace beneath the starry lane.

So let us cherish each scar as a mark,

For love ignites through darkness, igniting spark.

...

By the seaside we lived through the long summer,

Heartbreak radio played our sun-soaked tune,

While wildflowers drifted like soft whispers,

Painting the sky in hues of love’s bright bloom.

Rivers spoke sweet nothings in gentle flow,

Yet ache settled deep where blues began to swell;

Our hearts wore heavy coats though breezes blew slow,

Each laugh a note caught in a bittersweet spell.

Fireflies flickered beneath rainy day dreams,

Dancing on blossoms where memories lay thick;

In that messy garden where innocence gleams,

We wove golden moments with joy's tender trick.

Though heartache lingered by the shore’s embrace,

Love carved its rhythms in time's fleeting space.

...

In twilight’s breath, a red half moon ascends,

While time rains down on high tides kissing shores.

Kindness, the silver bullet that transcends,

Illuminates our hearts and opens doors.

Floating candles drift on waves purple bright,

Blackberry stains mark hands of those who glean.

Celebration sings through the crisp night air,

As wild geese soar in formation, serene.

Turning toward the fire’s warming surround,

Voices echo joy full of harvest's cheer;

Sunflowers bloom lushly before they’re gently bound,

Seeds cloaked in hope long for futures drawing near.

Lengthening shadows cradle summer's grace;

Time whispers softly through this sacred space.

...

In the embrace of summer's fading glow,

The sun dips low, a red brush on the sky,

Shorter days weave shadows where dreams sow,

And malaise drapes softly as whispers sigh.

Crystallized moments held in wild sapphires' gleam,

Time slows it's dance to a languid refrain;

Green nights emerge with silver sparks that seem

To banish worries and erase their stain.

Yet within this twilight lies an echoing call,

Of laughter lost amidst the waning light;

A spectral husk of warmth begins to fall,

As day concedes to encroaching night.

So let us treasure these hues before they rest,

For every sunset says what the heart knows best.

...

Just call me angel of the morning,

With cerulean tides that cradle dreams.

Diamond girl, you sure do shine like stars,

Your beauty brushed by wild huckleberry beams.

Wishing you well beneath azure skies,

Where whispers dance in the softest glow.

Neptune's whisper blooms and sighs above,

In your peaceful depths where secrets flow.

Oh Neptune, keeper of the twilight sea,

A vast expanse where mysteries entwine;

The currents hum a lover’s lullaby,

Lost sailors search for voices so divine.

So let us drift through sapphire fields unknown,

Where every wave displays a love we’ve sown.

...

In vibrant hues, I wear a smiling guise,

Yet beneath the laughter, shadows play their part.

I cradle pain like treasures in disguise,

Each word a brushstroke from my aching heart.

As summer wanes and autumn whispers near,

I dream of days when leaves begin to fall;

A tapestry of joy wrapped in my fear,

The beauty found in darkness' silent call.

My life is art, a canvas not for all,

Where every verse constructs the unseen light;

In rainy nights where solitude can brawl,

Poetry enfolds me tight with new insight.

So sing me songs of love as seasons change;

For sorrow’s ink creates what feels most strange.

...

In twilight’s hush, Fluffy Bunny dines,

Her plate adorned with greens, a minty grace,

While rabbits stomp in boots of mud and vines,

Their dreams of pumpkin fields each heart can trace.

Beneath the moon’s soft glow, a whisper sighs,

As angel dust ascends from earth below;

It paints the night with hope that never dies,

The magic glimmers gently in its flow.

Tall grass sways where secrets hide so deep,

Paws echoes on the ground increased,

In every bite she takes, sweet treasures leap,

A universe of joy within her feast.

So let them dance beneath starlit design;

For Fluffy knows the world's truly divine.

...

"A Sonnet to the Trees"

The trees taught me to let go, their leaves

Unfurling softly in the crisp embrace,

Autumn's birth, where golden whispers weave,

Through branches bare, revealing nature’s grace.

I stand amidst this change, exquisitely bright,

In second summer's glow I find my place;

Orbit around my heart, a dance of light,

Wishing for different paths in time and space.

Patience has shattered; yet here I remain,

Anchored in autumn’s vivid tapestry.

In dreams I build castles from joy and pain,

Memories upon mountaintops set free.

Harvesting change with each breath that I take,

Sun kisses wounds from the treasures I make.

Journey's Return

Through winding tracks, our laughter filled the air,

On rolling hills where each new landscape sings,

With every turn, a story waits to share,

As buses hum like bees on silver wings.

In mountain shadows where the wild winds play,

We danced along the valleys' lush expanse;

Each stopping point, a canvas for our day,

Where joy was found in every fleeting glance.

Together we embraced both sun and rain,

The heart of Europe held us close and tight;

Our weary bones now ache from sweet refrain,

Yet memories twinkle like the stars at night.

Now homeward bound with hearts still light as air,

We carry echoes of our voyage rare.

...

In Venice, where the waters weave their tale,

Canals reflect a twilight’s soft embrace,

Bridges arch like whispers in the veil,

Each step a heartbeat met with time and space.

Romance spills like wine from shadowed nooks,

Through winding alleys lined with stone's caress;

Pigeons flutter softly beneath history’s books,

While gondolas glide on dreams that coalesce.

Vaporettas glide across the shimmering tide,

Draped in sunlight's golden flares and hues;

Architecture stands as ancient pride,

A canvas painted bright of watery muse.

Here love dances amidst each gentle wave,

In Venice' arms we find what our hearts crave.

...

In the hush of night, I lie awake in pain,

Listening to rain's soft rhythm, its cadence a lullaby,

Wondering if sleep will ever come again,

While your peaceful breathing sings an untroubled sigh.

Memory dances like shadows against my mind’s pale wall,

Trying to conjure dreams where quiet rest resides,

But many nights drift by with their heavy thrall;

Unrefreshed wanderings are all that this heart abides.

Will slumber find me beneath the fear I swallow?

Each drop outside reflects my restless plight;

I grasp at hope for a calming peace tomorrow,

Sleep’s gentle kiss feels elusive as night.

So here I remain, a sentinel of despair,

Awake in pain while the world dreams unaware.

Upon the beach where twilight starts to gleam,

The sun dips low, a painter's brush at play,

Its golden hues reflect upon the stream,

While whispers of the sea softly sway.

We sit together on warm sands that sigh,

As sea birds call with echoes in the breeze;

Their cries weave tales as they dance and fly,

Nature’s chorus embraces us with ease.

The warmth recedes in gentle evening's kiss,

A cooler touch wraps round like tender grace;

In every wave’s soft lapping lies pure bliss,

Our hearts drift lightly in this sacred space.

As day meets night beneath a crimson hue,

I find my peace, in sunsets shared with you.

...

In twilight's grasp, the cold lake stretches wide,

Where ripples whisper secrets to the shore,

Beneath the watchful gaze of mountains' pride,

Their crowns adorned with snow forevermore.

I slip into the chilled embrace alone,

The water swirls around me like a dream;

Each stroke an anthem carved from nature's bone,

A fleeting moment caught in silver stream.

Leaves dance with joy, as evening winds flow,

Rustling stories, woven beyond sight;

They share their tales with every ebb and glow,

As dusk prepares to cloak the world in night.

Here, in this wild expanse, where silence sings,

Infinity cradles, all forgotten things.

...

In twilight’s glow, the rainbows weave their trails,

Through whispered woods where ancient echoes sing.

With every step over familiar dales,

The earth unfolds its vibrant offering.

Beneath a canopy of patient trees,

Their arms embrace life in an emerald fold;

Leaves murmur secrets carried by the breeze,

A balm for weary hearts, both young and old.

Roots intertwine like stories shared at dusk,

Grounding our souls to nature's tender grace.

Amidst blossoms bright, that banish every husk,

We find a quiet hearth in this safe space.

So let us walk, where peace descends like dew,

On rainbow paths, beneath skies ever true.

...

In the cold embrace of a lake, I dive,

Where whispers of wildness echo and play,

Beneath snow-capped peaks that silently thrive,

Bathed in the fading light of golden day.

Ripples caress my skin with frigid grace;

The water’s laugh, singing a soft song,

As evening winds weave through the trees' embrace,

A rustling chorus where shadows belong.

Mountains stand guard, ancient sentinels true;

Their watchful eyes cradle both earth and sky,

With each stroke forward, I feel anew:

Nature's heartbeat thrumming, low yet spry.

In this moment, the cold lake as my muse,

I discover wild solace, in natural hues.

...

In mountains high, the lightening dances bright,

A fierce ballet upon a violet stage.

Each flash ignites the sky, a jagged sight,

While shadows tremble in electrified rage.

The air is thick with whispers from afar,

Nature's warning wrapped in silver threads;

We brace against the pulse of every star,

Exciting storms weave dreams into our beds.

Yet peace eludes beneath this canvas tent,

Where fabric flutters like an anxious heart;

Ominous clouds gather with discontent,

The thunder’s roar could tear our world apart.

So let us hope for calm as night descends:

To sleep unbroken 'neath these fiery friends.

...

In lush green valleys, shaded from the sun,

I wander vicarious paths of old,

Where whispers weave through ancient trees that run

Both deep and wide, nature’s tales unfold.

Mountains rise like giants, touching sky,

Their peaks etched clean against a canvas blue;

A labyrinth of stone where echoes lie,

Each crevice holds a secret born anew.

I dream of time's embrace, of ages past,

When Earth was sculpted, by slow hands divine;

Here in this sanctuary achingly vast,

Breaths unladen, now realign.

Immaculate vistas ignite my mind;

Creativity blooms where nature is kind.

...

In shaded woods where whispers softly sway,

I wander far through valleys deep and green,

The sun retreats, its golden light at bay,

While mountains rise like dreams that I have seen.

Each breath of pine recalls the past’s embrace,

As ancient stones stand tall in silent grace;

Their jagged peaks slice clouds that drift away,

Time's canvas painted as geological trace.

With every step upon this sacred ground,

I travel vicariously through dreamlike thought,

Immaculate visions abound all around;

Creativity ignites with beauty caught.

Awake my spirit and ignite my core,

In awe I roam these realms forevermore.

...

On calmest shorelines, where the shadows play,

I wander softly, vicarious dreamer,

Through emerald whispers draped in twilight's sway,

A tapestry of silence, for this calm believer.

Clouds bloom and dance like sentinels in blue,

Their ancient heights cradle the azure sky;

Each glance ignites a flame of longing too,

As echoes dance from ages passing by.

Beneath them lie stories carved in stone,

Geological whispers telling time’s flight;

From molten hearts to souls that stand alone,

Immaculate wonders erupting light.

So here I travel through each shaded fold,

Creatively lost where nature’s tales unfold.

...

In whispers soft, the mountains cradle thee,

Eibsee’s embrace, a jewel yet untold,

With iridescent green and aquamarine,

Lies nestled where nature's secrets unfold.

A mirror reflects the sky’s gentle grace,

Each ripple a dance with sunlight aglow;

Amidst towering pines that lovingly trace,

The contours of dreams where wild waters flow.

To wander its shores is to find one's heart,

In every deep hue, a story revealed,

Here time drifts gently; all worries depart,

As nature's splendour and peace are congealed.

So seek this treasure in mountain retreat,

Where emeralds glisten beneath silvered feet.

...

In frigid realms where ocean whispers sigh,

A penguin stands beneath the velvet night,

With stars like scattered salt upon the sky,

While rippling hues of green and gold ignite.

The southern lights unfurl their swirling dance,

As if the heavens breathe in colours rare;

Each arc, a painter’s dream spun without chance,

A fleeting canvas stretching through the air.

"Where do you start?" he wonders at their glow,

And “When will you dissolve into the dark?”

Such questions weave between the ebb and flow,

As silence wraps him close, a sacred spark.

In dreams he chases rainbows on the tide,

Yet here he stands, each wonder magnified.

...

In shadowed valleys where the whispers dwell,

I roam through woods, a traveller in dreams,

Vicarious paths weave tales I can't tell,

As sunlight dances on the surface seams.

Mountains rise like ancient secrets unspooled,

Reaching for heavens with their jagged grace;

Eager passage of time where nature ruled,

Each stone a witness to its quiet pace.

Geological wonders breathe life anew,

Formations carved by bold hands unseen;

A canvas painted in earth's vibrant hue,

Whispers of ages in narratives told.

With each inhalation aching to see,

The world unfolds imaginatively.

...

In skies of dreams, a creature flits and glows,

Rainbow Cat drapes her brilliance 'round the room,

Fluffy as clouds where gentle sunlight flows,

A shimmer that awakens dusk from gloom.

Mesmerizing hues dance in lazy light,

Pastel whispers weave through shadows soft and deep.

But tread with caution; she guards the night,

For beauty hides its thorns beneath a sweep.

Though warmth invites your longing hands to play,

Beware her silent signals wrapped in grace;

Each vibrant glance might lead your heart astray,

Those claws of whimsy carry swift embrace.

So gaze, but stand afar from her delight:

Touch not this charm; lest stillness be your plight.
