Journey of grief

Striking. Blinding

Piercing through the heart

So sharp it takes the breath away

Every sinew pulled apart

Time ticks. Pain settles

Unobserved yet alive

Each day a week of torture

No desire to survive

Years add layer on layer

Memories flicker far away

Until fuses unexpectedly

Explode into the day

Grief not a battle

Any of us can win

A journey of acceptance

Pain held down deep within

As October approaches I'm starting to think about Baby Loss Awareness Week and the Wave of Light on Friday 15th October 2021. I've been painting my feelings for the first time, rather than writing them, though actually when I'd finished the 4th of these I realised they are a set and a poem developed to go with them. If you're reading this and know the grief of a baby never held then please know you're not alone. If you're reading this and aren't sure what to say to a friend or family member, just remind them you're there for them.

..

There are hundreds of poems in my original blog about the death of my baby boys; all freely available. Many of them are in my book of poetry which is still available to buy from all good bookshops "This is my story; this is my song."

This post brings together a lot of the resources I've written and made available for anyone to use to help support families with babyloss services.

Below I'll share more paintings I've been creating as part of processing my emotions.
