Celebrate Verdigris

I am taking part in ICAD - creating a small piece of art on an index card each day, though I'm doing it digitally.

Today is day 5 and the prompt today is verdigris which is the colour which copper turns as it weathers when subjected to the Elements.

I immediately thought about how life is like that and about the menopause and how we need to celebrate our verdigris patina as we age.

The poem emerged and then the artwork developed using the colours of verdigris and copper.

We are weathered

Aged

Marked

Changed

By external elements

And internal shifts

Our beauty patinas

Moulded

Gnawed

Coated

By life's challenges

And endocrine movements

Celebrate verdigris

Wisdom

Beauty

Richness

Honed through survival

We are renewed, revived
